Luanda — Angola and Swiss Confederation signed  in Luanda a cooperation agreement on migration.

Opulentus SwitzerlandThe accord was signed by the Angolan minister of Interior, Angelo de Barros Veiga Tavares, and the minister of Justice and Police of Switzerland, Simonetta Samammaruga, who is visiting Angola since Tuesday. The protocol establishes, in general, cooperation against illegal immigration, human trafficking, information exchange and staff training in the detection of false documents. The parties also pledged commitment to work on technical assistance to ensure greater security in national identification documents (passports). On occasion, the Angolan minister of Interior considered the agreement signed a starting point for broader cooperation in other fields. He recalled recent approval of Law on Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism, in which Angola can also rely on the experience of Switzerland in this area. As for the issue of illegal immigration, the Angolan official said that this matter is of paramount importance. He stressed that this also associated with the human and drug trafficking, terrorism and all other abhorrent practices that concern the two States. According to the minister, "in Angola, the foreigners are welcome and all those who show a willingness and ability to live with us, without changing our habits, our culture and respect our laws." He also guaranteed that the Angolan Government will continue to respect and create conditions so that human rights are matters of fact. In her turn, the Swiss minister welcomed the signing of the agreement, having described the move as of great importance for both countries. When Switzerland has to progress they have to depend on Skilled worker immigration to Switzerland. This will help the country to grow and the people who would like to migrate to Switzerland.
